Background

The Smartflower is a distinctive, all-in-one solar energy system that dynamically tracks the Sun throughout the day to maximize energy production.
Using a dual-axis tracking mechanism, the system unfolds at sunrise, follows the Sun’s movement during the day and folds back during the night or adverse conditions, providing higher efficiency compared to conventional fixed solar installations.

The system integrates mechanical movement, power electronics, sensors and control electronics into a compact, outdoor-rated solution.

Our Role

Albacomp has been the electronics manufacturing partner for Smartflower control electronics since 2016, supporting both development and series production.

Our scope of work includes:

All electronics inside the Smartflower control unit, including multiple coated PCBs and extensive cabling, are manufactured and assembled by Albacomp.

Manufacturing & Functional Testing

The Smartflower control electronics are designed for reliable outdoor operation, exposed to temperature variations and long-term environmental stress.
Manufacturing processes are tailored to support these requirements through consistent PCB assembly, automated conformal coating and structured final assembly.

Each finished control unit undergoes full functional testing to verify correct operation before delivery. This ensures that assembled systems meet defined functional requirements and are ready for system-level integration.
